Connecting to CresComm.Net with Windows NT 4.0

Click on the Start Button, then Programs, then Accessories, then Dial-Up Networking. You should see the following box:

 



Click on New. You should see the following box:

 



 

bulletClick on the Basic tab.
bulletIn the Entry name: field replace MyDialUpServer with domain.com.
bulletIn the Phone number: field enter 123-4567
bulletIn Dial using: select the modem you are using.
bulletClick on the Server tab. You should see the following box:

 



 

bulletEnsure that TCP/IP is checked.
bulletMake sure that IPX/SPX and NetBEUI are NOT checked.
bulletUncheck Enable PPP LCP extensions.
 
bulletClick on the TCP/IP Settings button.
bulletYou should see the following box:

 



 

bulletMake sure that Server assigned IP address is selected.
bulletSelect Server assigned name server addresses.
bulletMake sure that Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network are both checked.
bulletClick OK and then click on the Script tab. You should see the following box:

 



 

bulletAfter dialing (login) should be set to None.
bulletClick on the Before dialing button. You should see the following box:

 



 

bulletThis should also be set to None.
bulletClick OK and then click on the Security tab. You should see the following box:

 



 

bulletEnsure that Authentication and encryption policy is set to Accept any authentication including clear text.
bulletClick OK. You will return to the first screen with the new phonebook entry.

 



 

bulletTo connect, click on the Dial button. The following screen should appear:

bulletEnter your username and password in lower case letters in the appropriate boxes. Leave Domain blank. Click OK to start dialing.
